Аннотація: Shelterbelt forests are an important element of forest-agricultural landscapes, one of the most effective, long-lasting, and relatively inexpensive measures to combat wind and water erosion. They have a positive impact on the formation of the microclimate of the surrounding areas and significantly increase crop yields [1, 2]. Ukraine has a well-developed agricultural sector of the economy, so the protection and conservation of arable land is a priority for our country and is an important prerequisite for ensuring the balanced development of agricultural landscapes and increasing crop yields. The current environmental problems of Ukraine`s agroecosystems are caused by excessive plowing of soils, inefficient use of land, which does not take into account the optimal parameters of the ecological and socio-economic functions of the territories, and insufficient reclamation and erosion control measures [3-5]. Shelterbelts form the ecological basis of agroecosystems. However, today the number and sanitary condition of shelterbelts do not meet modern agroecological principles and requirements. The average share of shelterbelts in relation to arable land in Ukraine is 1.3-1.5%, while the scientifically justified share should be 3.0-4.5%, depending on the natural and climatic zone. Therefore, for a highly effective positive impact on the state of agricultural landscapes, the area of shelterbelts should be increased by 2-3 times. At the same time, it is important to preserve all existing shelterbelts. The priority measure for this is to conduct an inventory of them and assess their current environmental condition. However, statistics show negative trends, as the area of existing shelterbelts in Ukraine has decreased by 90% since 1990 [6-8].
